What we do

We are a small charity with a big vision based on the beautiful west coast of Scotland. Our primary intention is to aid the preservation and propagation of genuine transmission lineages of Buddhist teaching and practice.

The objectives stated in our constitution are as follows:

  • The advancement of Buddhism
  • The advancement of education
  • The prevention or relief of poverty

BSF does not run any projects itself. We aim to fulfil our goals by providing funding to individuals or organisations that share our objectives and ethos.

How we use our income

BSF is determined to completely fulfil its ethical and legal responsibilities as a registered charity.

Furthermore, we have the heartfelt commitment to use any donations made to BSF in line with what is taught in the dharma, the Buddha’s teachings.

To this end, we therefore strive at all times to:

  1. Make sure all donations are directed and used as effectively as possible
  2. To keep all running costs and overheads to an absolute minimum

For example, in our first year of operation, our sole running costs were obligatory banking charges.

In our second year, our running costs increased dramatically. This is because in order to comply with OSCR , the regulatory body for registered charities in Scotland, we had to employ an external auditor to check and certify our first year’s annual report and accounts prior to submission to OSCR.

Here’s a detailed breakdown of how we utilised every donation we received from June 2022 to June 2023.
